DBS Puncher - Dried blood spot puncher

OVERVIEW

DBS Puncher

The DBS Puncher is a versatile, automated instrument for punching dried blood spot samples into 96-well microtitration plates. The instrument supports a wide range of assays employing blood spots as well as other samples dried on filter paper. The DBS Puncher is well-suited for preparing plates for feeding into an automatic immunoassay system.

Efficient punching for your laboratory

The DBS Puncher is available as a standalone unit, or configured with a barcode reader and external PC with DBS Workstation software for identification of the patient sample. For process and data management, connection to an external PC also allows the transfer of worklists.
There are four selection buttons for instrument control, and the instrument is operated by hand or by foot-switch. Ease of use is enhanced by a clear double line display, and by illumination of the area being punched.

First years of experience on LSD screening in Italy, Padova

The increasing availability of treatments and the importance of early intervention have stimulated newborn screening (NBS) for lysosomal storage diseases (LSDs). We present our experience screening newborns in North East Italy to identify neonates with Mucopolysaccharidosis type I (MPS I) and Pompe, Fabry, and Gaucher diseases.
